Backpacking Accommodation

The Nunnery, Fitzroy

Located in Melbourne’s bohemian quarters of Fitzroy, The Nunnery offers backpackers a place to crash that won’t break the budget (dorm beds start at $26 a night and budget rooms at $65) and with plenty of other young travellers on site, you’re bound to make new friends.

Party goers will love being able to walk to the great bars and restaurants down colourful Brunswick Street or head off to Melbourne’s best theatres and nightclubs in the CBD, just a few blocks down. Free breakfast is served everyday from 8am to 10am, and the hostel puts on social activities like wine and cheese nights and pub crawls to help you make the most of your trip Down Under.

The Greenhouse Backpacker, Flinders Lane, Melbourne

Clean, safe, comfortable and central – with a huge rooftop garden – backpacker accommodation doesn’t get better than this. No wonder The Greenhouse Backpacker scored the 2004 and 2005 Victorian Tourism Award for best backpacker accommodation. Staff can advise you on everything from culture and nightlife to jobs and transport, with many attractions within walking distance of the hostel. For budget-conscious backpackers – who know that every last dollar counts when you’re on the road – freebies at The Greenhouse are a bonus.

Your stay includes free internet, breakfast, bbq night, pancake Sundays, luggage storage and tea and coffee – which leaves more money for great Australian beer like James Boag’s Premium.
