Getting there
P.S EmmylouSpend a night drifting down Victoria’s great Murray River, on the P.S Emmylou paddlesteamer. Just three hours north of Melbourne is where you’ll begin your overnight cruise, staying in a two berth cabin featuring traditional riverboat style bunks. A three-course dinner is served on the outer deck with sunset and the stars as your backdrop and the gentle swish of the paddlewheels as your soundtrack. The grand paddlesteamer P.S. Emmylou is a replica of the 19th century paddleboats that graced the Port of Echuca during its heyday as an inland trading port; it remains the only wood-fired paddlesteamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Ask the captain if you can stop to fish, swim or go bushwalking as you meander along the Murray, which flows more than 2,500 km from the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales to the Southern Ocean in South Australia.
