Royal Melbourne ShowgroundsIn an inner city of Melbourne lies a perfect place for holding large events for sports, exhibitions, dinner parties, conferences and town shows. Occupying 19 hectares of Ascot Vale, Victoria, the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds is comprised of 16 different structures designed and reflecting an ambiance of elegance and comfort. Features and ServicesAs implied by its label, the Royal Melbourne Showground’s provides for an ambiance that can cater to any occasion. For instance, the tent-like design of the Grand Pavilion is perfect for really large exhibition events, as the structure's size can be compared to 30 tennis courts. Grand Pavilion, in fact, has become a familiar landmark because of its grandiose exterior. The Exhibition Pavilion, meanwhile, is part of the newly added Showgrounds feature. But even as a recent addition, it has already gained quite a reputation by having a large main entrance and electric heating. In addition, the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds has buildings made for large affairs and get-togethers. The Royal Block, one of the heritage buildings, has different areas such as Royal Bar, Royal Luncheon Rooms, and others -- perfect for major events, moderately-sized groups and family affairs. On the other hand, the Exhibition Hall, designed to be column-free, is great for business and corporate functions. The Boulevard Hoecker, which has a high ceiling and high walls, is also an ideal choice as it is like a pavilion for similar functions. Apart from those that provide space for in-house affairs, the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds has pavilions that accommodate sports and other outside activities. For example, the Horse Pavilion, one of the heritage buildings, can house a lot of horses in its 149 stables. The Town Square Hoecker, which has a fabric roof and an open space on ground floor, serves as a sports room with a fresher environment. Finally, the Town Square, an open area, can be used for outdoor sports, fairs, and town shows. To assist the visitors in their events, the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds has created a team that will offer only the best ideas and services. Some of the services that the team can provide are food catering, staging, marketing and security--all essential for an organised and memorable event. Getting ThereThe Royal Melbourne Showgrounds is easily accessible via public transportation, whether via train, tram or bus. From Flinders Station, visitors can take the train to the Showgrounds' own railway station. Visitors can also catch the buses on stops in Epsom Road and Langs Road; they can also take the 57 tram, which is available on Elizabeth Street. If the visitors want to bring private vehicles, the drive can take only several minutes from the city proper and from the Melbourne International airport. Parking lots in the Showground will be not a problem as the site can have a place for as many as 7,000 cars. |
